At the moment there aren’t any regulations in the UK determining who can be a tutor.

You will need to get a DBS check done because of working with children (previously known as a CRB check).

You will also need sound subject knowledge and a background of working in education is advantageous though not essential.

One of the key aspects of supporting someone’s learning is having the ability to share the information that you have. You need to be able to go right back to basics to explain something and approach it from many different angles until it makes sense to the learner.
